Fashion Group International South Florida Awards in the Design District Miami

Nina

So I received an invite via Funkshion Fashion Week to attend the Fashion Group International award ceremony to acknowledge Miami industry professionals for their contributions to the community.  The Moore Building is in the heart of the Design District surrounded by fabulous designers like Christian Louboutin, Prada and Dior to name a few. When I entered, there was a crowd of industry pros sitting awaiting the ceremony.  I checked in, slid by security, and made my way to the Alexis presentation.  On platforms stood statuesk models dressed in modern and feminine lace dresses and jumpsuits.

Upstairs was a museum like presentation of outfits styled by Danny Santiago who is best known for his work in Vogue Italia, Harpers Bazaar, Elle, Sex & The City, [USA] Burn Notice, [HBO] Ballers.

Printed on walls you can see fashion editorial after editorial with over the top conceptualized stories.  I was upstairs when the ceremony started so I made my way down to watch awards being given, here is Danny receiving his award.

What an inspiration, I have always wanted to work my hardest to be recognized for my achievements, I am a millennial like that. So I found myself interested and wanted to know more about how FGI helps the Miami fashion industry.  Here is what I found, they network designers, bring industry professionals together and provide information on of-the-moment topics, announcements and regional calendars.   It houses the Fashion Access Network (FAN) with the FGI Executive Job Bank, Member Profiles and Contacts, Discussion Forum, links and more stylists and all things fashion come together for Miami. And then some.

Sounds like a must join right?  Well after this event it sure showed me that even though the Miami market is smaller then other major cities, there is a community of people working together to network and help each other. Until next time, See ya.
